Millwall and Hull City will decide their promotion fate at The Den on Monday (20:00 BST) in the second leg of the Championship play-off semi-final.

The first leg at the MKM Stadium on Friday ended goalless, meaning extra time and penalties may be required to determine which team advances to the final at Wembley on 23 May, where they will face either Southampton or Middlesbrough.

Hull City have won on each of their last two visits to Millwall, both in the Championship – a 1-0 victory in January 2025 and a 3-1 win in December this season. Those two wins equal the number of victories they managed in their previous 27 away trips to Millwall (10 draws, 15 losses).

Millwall have won four of their last six home matches (two losses), keeping a clean sheet in all four victories. During the regular Championship season, they recorded more home shutouts (11) than any other team.

Hull won only one of their final seven away league games of the season (two draws, four losses), suffering as many away defeats in that stretch as they did in their first 16 away matches (9 wins, 3 draws).

Hull are looking to become the first sixth-placed side to reach the Championship play-off final since Derby County in 2018-19. In the six seasons since, the team that finished third in the regular season has at least reached the final.

Millwall are aiming to reach the Championship play-off final for the first time, and their first play-off final of any kind since winning the League One final in 2017. Hull, meanwhile, seek their third Championship play-off final appearance, having won in both 2008 and 2016.

In 2026, 11 of Millwall’s 18 home goals in the Championship came from set pieces (five free kicks, four throw-ins, two corners). In the first leg, three of their first six shots came from throw-ins.

Millwall’s Jake Cooper created more chances than any other player in the first leg (three), while winning three of his four aerial duels. During the regular season, only Bristol City’s Rob Atkinson (74.6%) had a better aerial duel success rate than Cooper’s 73.6% (271 of 368).

Hull’s Kyle Joseph was involved in three of their four goals against Millwall during the regular season (two goals, one assist). His only higher goal involvement against a Football League side is against Burton Albion (four goals).
